2017 goals

Hello and welcome 2017!

Yesterday we flew back to London (I can’t call it home yet) after three weeks spent in Italy. We had a wonderful relay race with parents, grandparents and friends, this is what happens if you live in another country. Going back to 2016 and retracing a year full of changes is what I need to do this evening. I want to stop and reflect on myself and plan my future setting some goals. I have never done before but I believe is a good way to make clear what I expect from 2017.

First of all, I want to find a job. I have been on maternity leave for almost two years and even if I adore staying with my children, I need to restart from myself and to be reconnected to what I am. Motherhood has totally changed me in a better way. The priority is my family wellbeing, this means that I need to take care of myself if I want to care of my little world at home. In Italy I have been working for a tv channel and my desire is to continue in the same field. I am really enjoying also this blog and I hope it will help me to open to new prospects!

I want to take care of my body. I am breastfeeding and even if there is no point in setting goals on it I would like to find one hour a week for me. Swimming, walking, riding bicycle and running. Whatever it is, I need it.

I want to pay attention to the environment where we live and teach my boys green actions for protecting the planet.

I want to hold an online-free day for our family, enjoying simple things like staying together, looking at each others, reading books, playing, watching a film…

I want to have a monthly freekids evening out with my partner.

I want to better communicate. I think that the blog might help me in this way. It has already been my daily self-reflection.

I want to learn something new every day and improve some of passions of mine, photography, video editing, graphics.

I want to be thankful for what I have, for my family, for my life and never take them for granted. Every day I will find my ordinary moments to be thankful.

I want to be more organized and manage time in the best way. Andrea is three days a week at the nursery and I should optimize the time I am at home with Leo, taking care of him and pursuing my interests.

I want to start again to travel. In the last two years we couldn’t as much as I love.

Last but not least, I want to be a good mum and I will continue to do my best with my two boys. Andrea is growing so fast and I will try to be present in the same way than when he was my only child. Obviously I can dedicate him less time but I want to spend at least two hours per week only the two of us.

The master spirit of 2017 for me is well summed up by the following Madre Teresa’ words:

Don’t wait to finish university,

to fall in love, to find a job,

to get married, to have children,

to see them settle down,

to lose those ten pounds,

for Friday evening to arrive or Sunday morning, spring, autumn or winter.

There isn’t a better moment than this to be happy.

Happiness is a path, not a destination.
Work as if you didn’t need money,
love as if no one ever hurt you and dance, as if no one saw you.

Remember that the skin wrinkles up,

the hair turns white and the days become years.
But the important things don’t change: your strength and conviction have no age.

So let’s start 2017 I am ready!

Thanks for reading. I am waiting for you again here once in a while.

Francesca
